Every spot gets a score from 0 to 100 for its own sport, worked out from the weather forecast. This page lists what goes into each score, what the four tiers mean, and what a score can't tell you.
Method 2026.10.112 sports117 spots
A score always lands in one of four tiers. Each tier has its own mark and word, so you never have to tell it by colour.
85–100
Worth flying for. The strongest alignment across tracked factors.
65–84
Worth a short hop. Several important factors align, with some tradeoffs.
50–64
Rideable. A mixed window that warrants closer local review.
0–49
Skip. Tracked factors do not support a strong window.
A dash (—) means we have no forecast for that day, which is not the same as Poor. When a spot is Poor outside its best months, the sheet shows its season instead, for example “Off season · best Dec–Feb”.
Each sport has a short list of factors, such as fresh snow or swell period. A factor earns points when the forecast meets its threshold, up to a fixed maximum, and the points add up to the score. The tables under Sport by sport list every factor.
Two rules can hold a score down:
We only look up cached fares for a spot when its sport’s peak conditions are met right now. For most sports that means a score of 85 or more. Powder skiing, snowboarding, windsurfing and surfing use their own rule instead, and the partly tracked sports never qualify. Everywhere else, the flight link opens a search on our partner’s site without a price.
Points shown are maximums. Each spot page shows the reading we used and the points it earned.

Forecasts come from OpenWeather, Open-Meteo (swell and snow) and Tomorrow.io. We collect them on a schedule, score every spot and store the result. Pages read that stored result; they never ask a weather service while you wait.
That makes every score a few minutes to a few hours old:
